Since our establishment in 1966, by a charter of the City of Gainesville, Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) has been committed to advocating and providing affordable housing for eligible individuals and families. GHA works closely with the U.S. Department of HUD, the City of Gainesville, and area agencies and organizations to provide services and opportunities, not only to our residents, but to the entire community.

GHA owns and operates 8 Public Housing properties (635 units), administers 1,379 Housing Choice vouchers, 170 HUD VASH vouchers, 9 Path vouchers, and 16 Shelter Plus Grant vouchers.

Additionally, GHA operates the Job Training & Entrepreneurial Program for our Public Housing residents and Housing Choice Voucher participants.

The board of directors consists of five members who are appointed by the mayor. Generally, these five members have a strong record of success in private and public sector operations.
